Cancer affects millions of people across the UK, directly and indirectly. For many, it is not a distant issue, but something that touches family, friends, and colleagues in very real ways.

At the same time, conversations around health are evolving. We are becoming more aware that wellbeing is not just physical. Mental health, stress, and lifestyle all play a role in how we look after ourselves day to day.

While no single factor can explain complex illnesses like cancer, there is growing recognition that long-term stress and poor wellbeing can impact overall health, influencing everything from sleep and energy levels to how we take care of our bodies. That’s why small, consistent habits matter.

Turning Everyday Habits into Impact

Like many workplaces, we’ve found ourselves getting into the habit of going for regular walks.

  • A quick break from the desk
  • A chance to get some fresh air
  • A moment to reset before getting back to work

It’s easy to overlook, but these small moments make a difference. So we asked a simple question: what if we could take something we already do and give it a greater purpose?

The Challenge

This April, we’re taking what started as a simple habit and turning it into something bigger.

Nine of us at Team Fleet have committed to walking 100 miles each across the month. That’s 1,00 miles as a team, built up step by step alongside busy working days, meetings, and everything else that comes with it.

There’s no perfect way to complete it. Some of us will walk every day. Others will fit it in where we can.

What matters is showing up, staying consistent, and knowing that every mile contributes to a great cause.

Why it Matters

Cancer Research UK plays a vital role in funding research that saves lives. From early diagnosis to developing new treatments, the impact of this work cannot be overstated.

Every donation helps move that progress forward.

By taking on this challenge, we’re not just focusing on our own wellbeing during Stress Awareness Month. We’re also supporting a cause that affects so many people, both inside and outside of our workplace.

How You Can Support

With 10 of us taking part, we’re aiming to walk 100 miles each, a combined 1,000 miles across April.

If you’re able to support us, we’d really appreciate it.

Every donation, no matter the size, contributes towards life-saving research and helps us make this challenge count for more.

Walking with Purpose

This challenge isn’t about doing anything extreme.

  • It’s about consistency
  • It’s about small actions adding up
  • And it’s about taking something simple and giving it a greater purpose

Over the course of April, we’ll be sharing our progress, our milestones, and the people behind the miles. Every step we take is for a reason.
