Land Rover has officially revealed a preview of the Range Rover GT, confirming its status as the fifth addition to the Range Rover family and highlighting a significant step in the brand’s electrification efforts. It will sit on JLR’s own brand-new EMA platform

Although numerous details remain secret until the official launch, this announcement provides an exhilarating first glimpse of what is expected to set a new standard in luxury electric SUVs.

What is the Range Rover GT?

The Range Rover GT also signifies a significant advancement in Jaguar Land Rover’s broader Reimagine strategy, which seeks to broaden the company’s range of premium electric vehicles. It follows the upcoming Range Rover Electric, which has already gained considerable interest from customers around the globe.

According to Land Rover, the GT has been designed to provide the refinement, performance, and all-terrain capability that drivers anticipate from the brand, all while incorporating a fully electric powertrain.

Based on the images released so far, the GT seems to uphold the sleek, minimalist aesthetic that has become a hallmark of modern Range Rover design. Its streamlined shape, smooth surfaces, and modern lighting features indicate a more aerodynamic focus, all while preserving the strong road presence that the brand is renowned for. This design strikes a balance between sporty proportions and subtle luxury.

Electric Performance and Range

The GT is likely to come with dual-motor four-wheel drive, merging impressive performance with the all-weather capability that Range Rover buyers expect. Additionally, hybrid versions are set to be introduced later in the model’s lifecycle, providing customers with the option of fully electric or electrified powertrains.

JLR has not yet disclosed the battery capacity, driving range, or power outputs for the Range Rover GT.

Nonetheless, the 800-volt electrical system is anticipated to enable charging speeds of up to 350kW, which would allow for a 10–80% recharge in approximately 30 minutes when using a compatible ultra-rapid charger.

A Fresh Take on Range Rover Luxury

The Range Rover GT seems to embrace a thoughtful approach. The design extends into the interior of the car. Range Rover has unveiled a cabin that emphasises craftsmanship, premium materials, and a serene atmosphere for passengers. This could be especially significant for prospective buyers. A luxury vehicle should feel extraordinary upon entry, yet it must also provide comfort and relaxation during long drives.

Comfort Crafted for Extended Journeys

The GT label represents grand touring, indicating that comfort on longer trips is a vital component of the Range Rover GT experience. A 13-inch OLED touchscreen sits at the centre of the dashboard alongside a digital driver’s display and head-up display. As such, elements like seating, cabin luxury, ride quality, space, and noise levels will be equally significant as performance statistics.

Electric power can enhance this concept effectively. By removing the noise and vibrations linked to combustion engines, manufacturers have the chance to develop incredibly quiet and serene cabins.

However, it’s wise for buyers to wait for independent reviews and road tests of the final vehicles before forming solid opinions about ride quality, comfort, and refinement.

Who is the Range Rover GT For?

The introduction of another high-end electric tourer is great news for both businesses and company car drivers.

As manufacturers broaden their electric vehicle offerings, salary sacrifice schemes are allowing employees to access a growing selection of premium models while enjoying low Benefit in Kind tax rates. This creates an affordable pathway to luxury electric driving for many, often including servicing, maintenance, and insurance in a single monthly payment.

Expected price and release date

The Range Rover GT is anticipated to have its complete public unveiling in late 2026, with customer deliveries expected to start in 2027.

While official pricing has yet to be revealed, the GT is expected to be positioned at the higher end of the Range Rover lineup. The GT is likely to be priced at over £70,000, towards the £100,000 mark. Additional information, such as battery capacities, performance metrics, and UK specifications, will be provided as the launch date approaches.

No. Although it carries the Range Rover name, the GT has been developed as a grand tourer with a lower and more road-focused profile than the brand’s traditional luxury SUVs.

Its positioning as a grand tourer means longer-distance comfort is expected to form an important part of its appeal.
