What is the Brussels Motor Show?
The Brussels Motor Show 2026 (also known as the Autosalon / Salon de l’Auto), took place from 9th-18th January 2026 at Brussels Expo in Belgium. It brought together the latest in automotive design, technology, and trends from leading global brands.
This year’s show featured 60,000 square metres of exhibition space with over 100 exhibitors, including over 60 car brands and 28 motorcycle marques, giving eager visitors a comprehensive experience of current and future mobility offerings. From the next generation of cars, to city EVs to performance machines, this year’s show featured everything an EV enthusiast could wish for!
The Brussels Motor Show Evolution
The Brussels Motor Show has evolved significantly; from a traditional car exhibition in 1902 into a modern mobility showcase. In 2026, the focus moved beyond simply displaying vehicles to telling a broader story about the future of transport. This event communicated long-term strategies around electrification, sustainability, and digital technology.

Kia EV2: Key Features
Serving as the entry-level model in Kia’s EV line up, it was revealed as a car designed for modern urban lifestyles, offering a balance of practicality, technology, and efficient electric performance. The EV2 is built on Kia’s advanced E-GMP platform, the same architecture that underpins larger Kia EVs. It delivers a surprisingly spacious interior for its class, with class-above cabin flexibility and thoughtful packaging that makes it easy to use as a primary family vehicle or a city car.
Position in Kia’s Line-Up
The EV2 sits below the EV3, EV4, EV5, and EV9 in Kia’s growing electric portfolio, meaning it’s intended as a more affordable and accessible EV option while still offering advanced features and strong range figures.
Range and Power
The new Kia EV2 features two battery options with estimated WLTP ranges:
- 42.2kWh battery offering up to 194-197 miles
- 61kWh ‘Long Range’ battery providing up to 274 miles
- 10-80% charge takes around 30 minutes
The EV2 supports Plug & Charge functionality, which simplifies charging at compatible stations, and bidirectional V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) capability, allowing the vehicle’s battery to power external devices. This is useful for camping, tools, or emergency power, which is of interest to families.
The manufacturer’s other three reveals also derived from its GT model range. This included the EV3 GT, EV4 Hatchback GT and EV5 GT. Production of these three models will start in the second half of 2026. It is said to go on sale in the UK later this year for around £26,000. Renault Twingo E-Tech
The fully electric Renault Twingo E-Tech marks the return of the iconic Twingo nameplate in a modern electric form. Originally launched in the early 1990s, the Twingo has been reimagined for everyday urban mobility with a playful design, compact footprint and practical features for modern city life. It was officially unveiled in late 2025 and will enter production in 2026. Whilst Renault promises to go on sale in 2027 for an affordable starting price of less than £20,000, things could change…
The Twingo E-Tech is designed as a small, five-door electric hatchback that is especially suited to city driving. Its compact length of just under 3.8 metres and ultra-tight turning circle make parking and manoeuvring in tight urban spaces easy and stress-free.
Electric Powertrain and Range
Under the hood, the Twingo E-Tech uses an all-electric powertrain with a 27.5 kWh battery and a front-wheel-drive electric motor producing around 82 hp (60 kW). Hyundai Staria Electric
The Hyundai Staria Electric marks Hyundai’s first fully battery-powered version of its popular people carrier. This model reimagines the spacious Staria for the electric age, combining zero-emission performance with flexibility and comfort for families, shuttle operators and fleet users.
The Staria Electric offers impressive interior space with a powertrain layout, giving the vehicle one of the most open and adaptable cabins in its class. It will be availableas a 7 or 9 seater, catering to both family and commercial passengers.
Electric Powertrain and Range
The Staria Electric uses an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with an advanced electric motor. Fully charged, it delivers a WLTP driving range of up to around 248 miles, making it capable for longer trips as well as daily urban use. One of Staria Electric’s standout technologies is its 800V electrical architecture, which allows ultra-fast charging from 10 to 80 % in roughly 20 minutes, greatly improving usability on long journeys.
Position in the EV Market
The Staria Electric stands out for its blend of technology, comfort and zero-emission mobility, competing with rivals like the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and the emerging Kia PV5 in Europe’s growing electric MPV segment. Pricing for the new Hyundai Staria Electric isn’t firm yet as it’s launching in early 2026, but estimates suggest a range of £35,000 to £40,000. Zeekr 7GT- Overview
The Zeekr 7GT, arriving in the UK late 2026, is an all-electric estate car from the Chinese premium EV brand Zeekr, part of the Geely group. It made its European debut at the Brussels Motor Show 2026. The 7GT combines sporty design with everyday usability. The Zeekr 7GT is expected to launch in the UK with a competitive starting price of around £40,000 to £44,000 for the entry-level model, positioning it against the Tesla Model 3 and VW ID.7. Top-spec Privilege AWD models are expected to start at around £50,000.
Range and Performance
The Zeekr 7GT runs on an 800V electrical platform, which enables ultra-fast charging. With compatible high-power chargers, the battery can be charged from roughly 10 to 80 % in around 13 minutes, with peak charging rates of up to 480 kW, a level of rapid charging that’s among the fastest currently available on production EVs in Europe. Offered with two battery options, typically 75 kWh and 100 kWh, with the larger battery delivering a range figure of up to 407 miles WLTP in rear-wheel-drive form. It can reach 0-62mph in roughly 3.3 seconds.
Mazda CX-6e
Mazda chose the Brussels motor show to unveil the all-new Mazda CX-6e, marking a major step in the company’s gradual shift toward electrification and expanding its electric vehicle lineup in Europe. The CX-6e made its European appearance on 9 January 2026, alongside other fresh EV introductions, positioning Mazda as a serious player in the midsize electric SUV segment. The fully electric CX-6e SUV blends Mazda’s signature design with modern electric powertrain technology. It uses a 78 kWh battery that delivers an official WLTP range of around 300 miles, offering strong usability for everyday driving and longer journeys alike. The SUV is powered by a 258 PS (190 kW) electric motor driving the rear wheels, giving it a balanced and engaging driving experience. It delivers a 0-62mph in around 7.9 seconds and a 10-80% charge in 24 minutes, making it suitable for families and daily use.
Mercedes-Benz CLA
The Mercedes-Benz CLA was one of the most talked-about highlights, winning the European Car of the Year award, the first time Mercedes has achieved this since 1974! The award was announced during a ceremony at the show, where the CLA scored a commanding win over six other finalists, showing its significance as one of the most innovative new vehicles of the year.
The CLA combines striking design with electrified powertrain options and advanced technology. Visitors at Brussels saw a model that is positioned to redefine the premium segment with its mix of luxury, performance and efficiency. In addition to all-electric versions, hybrid variants are also offered, giving customers flexibility in how they choose their powertrain. Starting at £45,000 for the sport edition and the premium edition costing £51,770.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA is built on the latest modular electric architecture and offers long-distance capability that puts it among the leaders in its class. With a WLTP range of up to 484 miles, making it one of the longest-ranging EVs shown at the event. This exceptionally high efficiency broadens its appeal beyond city commuting, letting drivers confidently tackle longer journeys without frequent charging stops.
Performance varies between versions but starts around 272 hp. It features an 800V fast charging capability, allowing a 10-80% charge in 15-22 minutes. It reaches 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds, delivering both excitement and composure in everyday driving. Overall, the CLA’s combination of impressive range, rapid charging and strong performance helped make it one of the standout vehicles at the 2026 show.
