I cover all things green, from new EVs to greener living tips.
Every September, cities, businesses and individuals across Europe come together to support European Mobility Week; a celebration of cleaner, smarter, and more energy-efficient travel.
It’s the largest sustainable transport campaign in the world, with thousands of towns and cities across the continent getting involved.
This year is no exception.
From large-scale public transport initiatives to small community projects, the goal is simple: encourage people to rethink how they move, and choose transport options that are better for the environment and public health.
Who’s Taking Part?
Over 2,000 towns and cities in more than 40 countries have already signed up. You’ll see campaigns running in schools, workplaces, councils, and high streets, with everything from group walks and cycling events to electric vehicle demos and car-free days popping up in local areas.
Here in the UK, more organisations are joining in every year, especially as the shift to electric vehicles and active travel continues to grow.
The Theme for 2025: Mobility for Everyone
This year’s theme is “Mobility for Everyone”, highlighting the need to make sustainable transport more inclusive and accessible.
That means:
- Making it easier for more people to walk, cycle or use public transport
- Encouraging flexible travel options, like hybrid working or shared mobility
- Supporting people who want to switch to electric, but need it to be affordable and practical
Clean transport shouldn’t be a luxury. This week is about making it possible, and appealing, for everyone.
What You Can Do
You don’t need to join an official campaign to get involved. Start with one or two simple actions this week:
- Leave the car at home for one journey: walk, cycle, or use public transport instead
- Try going car-free on Monday 22 September for World Car Free Day
- Switch off the engine: literally and metaphorically, on Zero Emissions Day (21 Sept) by working from home or taking fewer trips
- Rethink your commute: even one day a week can make a difference
- Consider switching to electric: especially if your employer offers a salary sacrifice scheme!
We’re here to help you explore the most cost-effective way to do that.

What It’s Like to Drive an EV Long Distance
We’ve asked members of our Driverline team to share their experiences of longer journeys in their electric vehicles—how they planned the route, how charging worked, and how it compared to a traditional drive.
Here’s what they had to say:
Amy – Volvo XC40 Recharge
I recently drove the Volvo XC40 to Edinburgh, a trip of just over 300 miles.
The car was incredibly comfortable and made the long drive feel effortless. I only needed one stop each way, which was ideal as it gave me time to grab some food while the car charged.
The range was excellent, and I never felt worried about making it to my destination. The journey itself was a pleasure too, with some stunning views along the route.
For a long-distance trip, the XC40 proved to be a perfect choice!
Fran – MG4
Last Friday was a proper bucket list moment, I headed down to London with my dad to see Coldplay at Wembley, and they did not disappoint. It was one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen!
The journey was made even better by taking the MG4. We drove to the hotel on a single charge, plugged in while having breakfast the following morning, and cruised home the next day without needing a stop.
Smooth, easy, and completely stress-free; the MG4 turned what could have been a tiring journey into one we could just relax and enjoy.
Char F – Hyundai Ioniq 5
Last year we put the Ioniq 5 to the ultimate family test; a road trip down to Devon with two adults, five kids, all the luggage, and even a full food shop squeezed in. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure how practical an EV would be for a trip like that, but the space (and the comfort) genuinely surprised us. The car handled the load with ease, and the journey itself felt smooth and stress-free.
The charging stops, which I thought might feel like a chore, actually gave everyone a chance to stretch their legs, grab snacks, and reset . They became part of the adventure rather than a disruption. By the time we arrived, it was clear that EVs aren’t just for short city runs anymore; they’re more than capable of carrying real family life with them on the road!
It’s amazing to look back and see how far the EV journey has come in just a short space of time, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
Smarter Travel Starts with One Choice
